04.12.2018 Interview with George Ayee
What got you interested in the change and transformation space?
After years of consulting, speaking, and training, I made a great discovery that until we change and transform from the inside, our results on the outside will not change. Simply put, when we are transformed from the inside, our results on the outside changes significantly. When leaders change, the organizational results change. I believe that results begin with transformation and are sustained through riding the waves of transformation and change.
What would you say is the biggest obstacle to overcome when trying to go through a transformation?
The Will and Authenticity to go through the transformation and see it through to the end.
What defines a great leader in your eyes?
A great leader is that person who creates an enabling environment for his team to unleash their creativity, talent, and potential in the fulfilment of organizational objectives while achieving their personal mission, goals and objectives. Leaders must set their people free, because in each person is a gem of greatness!
Do you have a favourite experience from your speaking career?
One of my memorable experiences was when I spoke to a group of 200 people whose jobs are going away because of divestment. The mood when I got to the place was sadness, grief, and pain. Some of the people have worked with the organization for over 30 years. After my presentation, the mood completely changed, hope was restored, people inspired and transformed in their thinking to move on and start preparing for another chapter in their lives. I can still see the faces before and after my presentation.
What’s your advice to people on their transformation journey?
Success is an inside job. To achieve and fulfil your mission and goals, focus on your personal transformation. You can’t be doing the same thing over and over again and expect a different result. Focus on changing the cause of your current results, and the effects; your outward results will begin to change. Personal transformation is the key to changing the conditions of your life. As within, so without!
Who is your role model?
My role model is John Maxwell the leadership juggernaut, transformational leader, speaker and prolific leadership author.
What do you gain personally from being a transformational speaker?
My mission in life is releasing champions and inspiring each one to greatness. One of the ways to release champions is through enabling personal transformation. When I see lives transformed, I can visualize the ripple effects on families, businesses, community, and the world as a whole. I am addicted to seeing people succeed and thrive. Transformation is the vehicle.
