What is the message you hope people take away from your presentations?

That business is simple and growing your business is not difficult if you “Get in the Helicopter”


Do you have a favorite experience from your speaking career?

Well the scariest was: Speaking to 1500 in Iran and there is a Twitter wall behind me where they are saying what they think of me – in Farsi!


How do you prepare for speaking engagements?

Left brain: I have a detailed check list for every event and I do voice exercises just before the event Right Brain: I smile a lot and look to enjoy every moment!


How can businesses achieve growth in a time of economic crisis?

There’s a basic rule of business – sell to people who have money. If your traditional customers don’t have any money don’t try and sell to them. Unless you have greater than 80% market share there is always headroom to grow – even in a recession


How much does humor factor into your keynotes and other speaking engagements?

Very important – not telling jokes, necessarily,  but being self deprecating and making people smile – and relax


What is the significance of the helicopter?

Business leaders need to get in the helicopter and look over the horizon to see where they are going – but also land and handle the detail sometimes as well. When you are up there often mountains become molehills….


How are your keynote presentations unique?

Yes – wholly unique to me


What should event planners keep in mind when booking you for an event?

I am always looking from the CEO’s perspective and therefore delegates generally need to be senior executives or business leaders – whether from the smallest start up or the largest corporate
