What is the message you hope people take away from your presentations?

That life is magic and anything is possible. My focus is on logical thinking and becoming aware of the environment (including opportunities) around you on a daily basis.


How are your keynotes unique?

I am not a ‘Ra Ra’ speaker. Speaking happened by accident. Initially a made my name in the entertainment business traveling the world. Many corporates would discuss my life and experiences with me after an event and comment on my passion and drive. It was them that continually said I should speak about my experiences and share these with others. Thus my keynotes are completely personal and based on my own experiences. Very much the motto of, “if I can do it, you can do it too!” The difference is that I have appeared in 144 countries and achieved success on principles I believed in. These I share with my delegates in a down to earth easy to understand manner so that they may walk out of my keynote and implement these life skills immediately.


Why do you think your keynote, ‘Discover Your Magic’ is so popular?

It’s real! I practice what I preach! Authenticity is no. 1. I make myself vulnerable in my talks and I share openly, showing delegates that we are similar. Hence when I talk about a downfall in life and how I felt and the emotions I went through, the audience can connect with me. Then I show them how I overcame adversity and how they can do it to. Laughter also plays an important role. Most important is that at the end of my session the audience remember my message and walk away with skills they can use.


Can you give 3 tips for companies who wish to improve customer service?

  1. Don’t waste money attempting to train staff on delivering good customer service. Do you really think that you will be able to change the traits of a negative staff member? A leopard doesn’t change it’s spots! Even if you send the leopard to therapy for 2 years to become a lion – nothing will ever change. Instead, employ the right person with the right attitude in the first place – you will save yourself much frustration and have a far better team working for you. I’m not saying that everyone is like this.
  2. Deliver the service you advertise! Stop blaming staff for bad service when your policies and procedures suffocate them from doing their job efficiently and slow the whole process down due to administrative protocols.
  3. Look at the world today, who actually just delivers what they advertise? Somewhere there is always a catch or a string attached. Stop it! Just deliver what you promise in your marketing!
  4. Empower your staff to take responsibility. This borders on point1. Employ the right trustworthy staff in the first place, so that you can give them the responsibility to sort out a problem without having to fill in 30 forms and ask 7 other people whether they may or may bot go ahead.


What is the best experience you have had as a keynote speaker?

Imagine standing on a sand dune in the desert at sunset with delegates sitting all around you and sharing life skills. What about talking in the Kruger National Park with land rover lights shining on you as spotlights. A fire between you and the delegates, and lions roaring in the bush behind you – and you are sharing life truths with a small select group of executives. These are unforgettable experiences.
