The former Olympic athlete, Denise Lewis has continued to be involved in athletics even after her retirement. Denise has written for the Telegraph  and has been a regular commentator for BBC Sport. Our keynote speaker Denise Lewis is also a popular anchor and presenter, having a natural presence and genuine warmth.

The keynote speaker Denise Lewis OBE is a former British heptathlete who won gold at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Alongside Kelly Holmes, Paula Radcliffe and Christine Ohuruogu, Lewis is one of the “golden girls” of British athletics. She has established the British record of 6831 in 2000 and has twice, in 1998 and 2000, been runner up in the BBC’s Sports Personality of the Year awards. In 2011 she was inducted into the UK Athletics Hall of Fame.

Denise Lewis retired in 2005 but has continued to be involved in athletics, writing for the Telegraph newspaper and becoming a regular commentator and expert for BBC Sport. In 2009 she covered the World Athletics Championships from Berlin with Johnson and Colin Jackson. The following year she covered the Commonwealth Games in Delhi. Denise also proved her authority on the discipline, on BBC’s London 2012 team – broadcasting daily from the Olympic Park.

Our speaker Denise Lewis has also undertaken various television and media work, in BBC One’s Strictly Come Dancing she partnered with Ian Waite and was runner-up to actress Jill Halfpenny. Performances at the Royal Variety Show and Strictly Come Dancing Champion of Champions Special followed, where Denise received the most points from the judges and she again revisited the role for Let’s Dance for Comic Relief in 2009, reaching the final of the competition. Denise has been a guest on Radio 4’s prestigious Desert Island Discs and competed for charity on both All Star Family Fortunes and BBC One’s Pointless.

With professionalism, natural presence and genuine warmth, the ambitious speaker Denise Lewis has established herself as a popular anchor and presenter. In 2011 she presented Camp Orange for the kid’s channel Nickelodeon.
