Keynote speaker Florence Eid-Oakden is the CEO and Chief Economist of Arabia Monitor, an independent research firm that specializes in economic and market studies in the MENA (Middle East North Africa) region. She helps audiences to understand and act on medium and long-term trends that are shaping the region.

Dr. Florence Eid-Oakden is the CEO and Chief Economist of Arabia Monitor, she has also been a professor of economics and finance at the American University of Beirut and a visiting professor at INSEAD and HEC Paris. She received her Ph.D. in Organisation Economics from MIT with a joint Doctoral Committee from MIT and Harvard.
Formerly head of MENA at JP Morgan, Dr. Eid-Oakden has also worked with the World Bank on Latin American and North America. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Arab Banking Corporation International Bank in London and Jordan, Arab Bankers Association of North America in New York, and sits on the Advisory Board at the American University in Cairo, Egypt.
Through her extensive experience and in depth knowledge, Dr. Eid-Oakden gives audiences a perspective into the Middle East and North Africa, and to place current developments into a broader context. Dr. Eid-Oakden is usually nominated the best speaker of the sessions/conference. In February 2017, she was on a panel speaking on Sino-MENA trade and investment relations and was voted the best speaker of the session, with 54% of the total.
