Keynote speaker Jonathan Story is both an Emeritus Professor at INSEAD, but also a very successful author. He understands the complex interplay of politics, market forces and business strategies. His findings are invaluable to businesses with an international interest.

Jonathan Story is  Emeritus Professor of International Political Economy at INSEAD and has been teaching there fore the last three decades. He teaches courses on international business and the global political economy. At the campus in Fontainebleau and Singapore, he has taught European and world politics, markets, and business in the MBA, and PhD programs. He has also taught on other Executive Development and Company Specific courses. He serves as a consultant to governments, international organisations and multinational corporations.

Before joining INSEAD in 1974, he worked in Brussels and Washington, where he got his PhD from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies. He has held the Marusi Chair of Global Business at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and is currently Distinguished Visiting Professor at the  Graduate Schoold of Business, Fordham University, New York.

Jonathan has also been successful as an author. His work as an author include China UnCovered: What you need to know to do business in China.  as well as China: The Race to Market (2003), and The Frontiers of Fortune, (1999). His books have been translated into numerous languages including French, Italian, Spanish, German, Korean, Chinese and Arabic. Jonathan has also co-authored the Oxford Handbook on Business and Government(2010), and has contributed numerous chapters in books and articles in professional journals. He regularly contributes to newspapers, and has been the winner four times of the European Case Clearing House “Best Case of the Year” award. His latest cases detail hotel investments in Egypt and Argentina, as well as a women’s garment manufacturer in Sri Lanka and a Chinese auto parts producer. Currently he is preparing a monograph on China’s impact on the world political economy, as well as a proposal for a contextual approach to business studies. He has a chapter forthcoming on the Euro crisis. Jonathan also has a blog, which he updates regularly.

Jonathan is married and has four children and six grandchildren. In addition to English, he is fluent in French, Spanish, Italian, German, reads Portuguese and is learning Russian. He has a bass voice, and gives concerts, including Afro-American spirituals, Russian folk, oratorio and classical opera.
