Interview with Peter van der Wel

If you could only predict one thing for the future, what would it be?
As the Arab Proverb says: he who foretell the future lies, even if he tells the truth.  And indeed nobody can predict the future, not even a futurist. But I can help you to be better prepared for that still unknown future.

How are your keynote presentations unique?
My presentations are a wake-up-call, a call-to-action and an inspirational talk in one. And it’s all presented in a very visual and dynamic way.

How do audiences gain from your keynote presentations?
Well my audiences get a glimpse of plausible futures and how to be better prepared to take advantage of the possibilities they offer.

What is the most unique experience you have had as a result of your job?
That’s a difficult question. During my long career I have had so many exceptional experiences.  People who come and thank me after my presentation for the inspiration I gave them.  Being invited back to organisations years later to come and see their brand new activities based on my presentation.

How did you begin your speaking career?
I started my speaking career more or less when I became a secondary school teacher. And I still cherish the didactic techniques I learned there to make my presentations tailor-made for the audience in the room.

What kinds of clients have you worked with in the past?
All kinds of clients. From multinationals to small family-owned businesses, from hospitals to schools, from local governments to national governments and from volunteer organisations to police and fire brigades. I can’t think of any type of organisation I haven’t worked with. Well, I haven’t worked with the UN (at least up until now)
