Apart from his professional and journalistic blogging activities keynote speaker Robin Wauters is also an entrepreneur and considered a start-up mentor and accelerator. Wauters has worked in the online media industry for many years and has gained much expertise in regards to the industry, which makes him an insightful keynote speaker on topics regarding digital start-ups and innovation in this field.

Robin Waters describes himself as a seasoned, multi-lingual technology journalist and wearer of many other hats. He is the founding editor of Tech.eu, a new digital publication dedicated to covering the European tech industry in depth, where a number of competent people work along side him.

Prior to this Robin Wauters was formerly the European Editor of the global technology news site The Next Web, and before this a senior editor at TechCrunch (acquired by AOL in 2010) and managing editor of Virtualization.com.

Wauters started his professional career working as Internet marketing manager for the IT company Hostbasket (acquired by Telenet) and later as online media manager for leading Belgian ICT publisher Datanews/VNUnet (acquired by Roularta).

In 2009 he also cofounded the social media agency Talking Heads, which became part of the Web design and development agency Netlash in 2010.

Occasionally Wauters serves as a startup advisory board member, and is currently a minor shareholder in startups such as Checkthis, Maily, Showpad, Argus Labs (Jini), and Oxynade.

In addition to this he has mentored a wide range of EU startups through the internationally acclaimed Found Institute and Seedcamp, which are both startup accelerators.

In the past he has organized events like the Plugg conference and the monthly OpenCoffee Club Brussels meetups.
