About Permission Marketing

  • Permission marketing is a relatively new term, often credited to the American entrepreneur and author Seth Godin. Permission marketing is considered the opposite of so-called interruption marketing.
  • Most of the marketing we know belongs in the interruption marketing category, which means marketing or advertising that intrudes on us without our prior consent. Examples include spam e-mails, internet popups or, for that matter, TV or radio commercials.
  • The idea of permission marketing is to only present marketing and advertisement to people who, one way or the other, have given their permission, such as subscribing to newsletters, certain kinds of social media targeted campaigns, etc.
