About Blood Pressure

  • Blood pressure is the pressure that circulating blood exerts on our blood vessels. It is typically measured using a special armband which is inflated around the arm and then slowly deflated.
  • Blood pressure readings are presented with two numbers, e.g. 120 over 60. The top number is called the systole and represents the maximum pressure exerted on the arteries. The bottom number is called the diastole and represents the minimum pressure on the arteries.
  • When is it important to have your blood pressure measured, and what does it mean if your blood pressure is too high or too low? How can it influence your general condition?
  • Keynotes about blood pressure look into this topic, trying to answer such questions and more.
