Mars is the fourth planet in our solar system, and neighbor to the Earth. Like Earth, Mars has an atmosphere, but it is very thin and made up almost entirely of carbon dioxide. A Mars day is about 39,5 minutes longer than an Earth day.

Throughout human history Mars has been feared and worshipped, and many science fiction stories and movies find inspiration in the red planet which has indeed played an important role in terms of both culture and religion.
