Thank you so much for delivering such an impactful Keynote Presentation at the MPI/ILEA ONE Conference in Calgary on March 14th, 2017, and for making a special effort to travel to Calgary for this conference. Your presentation was dynamic, insightful and really touched everyone in the room in different ways. Of course, no one in the audience was an athlete – but you managed to tailor your keynote to a diverse group of event professionals, working in a variety of disciplines, and made it meaningful and inspirational to each of us. I found myself so proud of your accomplishment at the 2000 Paralympic Games, I had to wipe a tear at the end of that short video – talk about impact! I am sure you will bring great benefit, experience and inspiration to vastly different audiences and I would highly recommend you for other speaking opportunities. I look forward to the day that we can work together again.

Keynotes

Keynote by Andrew Haley:

How Elite Athletes can share their experiences to allow business leaders to go from good to GREAT.

At the Olympic Games or World Championship level, most elite athletes have a shared

goal of becoming the best in their discipline. At that level it’s all about excellence. Athletes who can consistently rise to the occasion, set world records, or medal at a major game are rare. Olympic Champions have been found to have various psychological attributes, cognitive and behavioral strategies, and personal dispositions.

The pursuit of excellence in sports involves athletes striving to produce incredible

performances. Athletes engage in intense physical training, demonstrate mastery, competitiveness, and a relentless spirit.

This keynote will address

  • What is it about elite athletes that allow them to demonstrate superb abilities?

  • What are the transferrable traits of a high-performance athlete that allow them to influence business leaders to move their skill and mindset from good to GREAT.

  • Will look at those that thrive in chaos and those that do not.

  • Greatness is not a function primarily of circumstance. It’s a matter of a conscience choice and discipline.

  • Awareness that the energy you bring is vital to your success. In fast-paced, high-pressure environments, our ability to lead with intentional energy can transform team dynamics, build trust, and foster alignment across the organization helping it go from good to GREAT.

  • The talent we surround ourselves with (coaches, athletes, support staff, co-workers etc..) plays an enormous factor in the process. It’s a principle that underscores the role of human capital as the bedrock of this transformation process.

  • A constant drive to be the best and a focus on 1% marginal gains will make all the difference to performance. This can only come from a business culture of discipline and a constant, almost restless curiosity.

  • Humility and putting others before yourself are important.

  • ‍Most elite athletes wouldn’t be who they are without their keen minds capable of thinking strategically and analytically. Strategic thinking is closely tied to emotional control.  This underscores the benefit of a strong mental state for elite performance.

Keynote by Andrew Haley:

Mastering your Mindset for Peak Performance.

Top performers have learned to adapt their mindsets to prepare and execute on all levels and especially in high pressure situations. There is an extra level of dedication and commitment to qualify for the Olympics and beat out the nation’s top athletes. There is an even higher level required to make it to the podium.

Preparation, taking constructive criticism, accountability, determination, dedication, process management and strategic goal setting all played a key role in Andrew Haley’s success. Andrew’s high-performance mindset was constantly evolving so he could commit to days and nights in and out of the pool. Over time, his elite mindset became a natural process of his everyday work. Repetition and focus enabled him to master himself and his craft which led to his Hall of Fame swimming career and multiple Gold Medals and World Records.

This talk shows your team that no matter the circumstances we can be prepared and ready for action. You will learn to banish self-doubt and fear and tap into that extra level needed at work or at home. You will learn to create a mindset that can take you to new heights, set realistic and achievable goals to achieve dreams, meet expectations and realize there are no limits to your capabilities.

In this tailored presentation, Andrew will explore:

  • The biggest wins don’t start big. They start with one small move that changes everything.

  • It’s not about overnight success rather focusing on getting better every single day.

  • Positivity is always a choice

  • We are always better as part of a T.E.A.M. with support

  • Leading oneself to understand your “why” to find your purpose in everything you do

  • Prevent burnout through managing your time, healthy living, and relationships effectively.

  • Set realistic short-term goals that paint the larger picture for dreams and success

  • Be accountable to yourself in a positive way, to align your habits, daily routine to include what it takes to get you where you need to be

  • Self-acknowledgement and celebration of your success while enjoying the benefits of achieving new heights

  • New approaches that will set you on your own “Personal Excellence” journey

Keynote by Andrew Haley:

What Elite Athletes can teach business leaders about Digital Customer Experience (CX).

The world of Digital Customer Experience (CX) including trends towards AI, personalization and a user-friendly customer journey across channels is rapidly evolving. There are similarities between what elite athletes experience and what digital leaders face.

In this keynote Andrew will go over:

  • A HIGH-PERFORMANCE MINDSET – The journey is long. Training for the Olympics or the Paralympics is a marathon not a sprint. Having a high-performance mindset either in sport or in digital transformation is vital. There will be bumps along the road to overcome.

  • PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT – Like an athlete preparing long before their race, the same can be said for digital teams that are preparing for major digital transformation initiatives well in advance. You don’t focus on overnight success. You focus on getting better every single day.

  • BE FLEXIBLE – Athlete and digital leaders need to be able to adjust their training and strategies as they encounter obstacles or challenges. Focus on controllables.

  • BUILD A GREAT TEAM – Whether in sport or CX the fundamentals of building a great team is vital for success.

  • BE OPEN TO NEW IDEAS TO IMPROVE – Athletes and organizations should also be willing to improve. CX organizations specifically should be open to new technologies and processes as they lean towards a cohesive customer experience that is good for their audience and bottom line.

  • REMEMBER THE RACE IS LONG -- Elite athletes don’t worry if they get injured or stumble in the race. On the contrary, they understand that failure is a foundational part of progress. Similarly, digital teams cannot get better without patience and repetition and a tolerance of failure so that if you fail one day, you are not scared to get back up and try again the next day. That is where growth comes in.
