Henry Blofeld is a renowned British sports journalist, broadcaster, and author. Known to many as ‘Blowers’, he has been a regular member of the popular British cricket program Test Match Special since in 1982. In 2003 he was awarded an OBE for his services to broadcasting.

Henry Blofeld began to write about cricket as a freelancer for The Times in 1962. The following year, the Guardian decided that they would find a home for his clichés, and he remained with them freelance until The Independent was launched in the early eighties. In addition to this he wrote for the Sunday Express. Broadcasting came along ten years later when he joined the Test Match Special team for two one-day games against Australia, and he has been a fixture on the program ever since.

Blowers began to write books in 1970, and today he is the author of 15 titles, most of them about cricket. His work about Kerry Packer, entitled The Man Who Coloured Cricket, and his autobiography A Thirst for Life are among his most popular books. His distinctive voice has been used for a number of radio and television commercials.

In 2002, Henry Blofeld began dabbling in theatre, and since then he has toured a series of one-man shows around Britain, as well as theatrical collaborations with John Bly and Peter Baxter. Although cricket inevitably forms a part of these shows, they are really more about the extraordinary life he has led and the fascinating people he has bumped into along the way. Many of his years have been spent watching county and a certain amount of Test cricket in England – there was one year when he commentated on every Test for TMS, and in the winter he toured the cricket playing world. For about fifteen years he spent part of each winter in Australia where he wrote a column for The Australian and also worked for a network of commercial radio stations led by Radio 2UE in Sydney who broadcast an alternative form of commentary for the international games.

Henry Blofeld can boast some of the finest stories from cricket on and off the pitch, as well as inimitable anecdotes from the world of journalism and through-the-keyhole tales of the glitz and glamour of celebrity life. He has the capacity to amuse and fascinate crowds of all shapes and sizes. Blowers has always been and continues to be outrageous and irresistible fun!
