From British American Racing to Brawn GP

Nicole began her Formula 1 career in the late 1990s with British American Racing. Working alongside Jacques Villeneuve, Craig Pollock and Adrian Reynard, she played a central role in establishing the team in Northamptonshire. This early chapter gave her first-hand experience of building a team’s identity, infrastructure and culture from the ground up.

Between 2007 and 2013, Nicole worked closely with Team Principal Ross Brawn. She was part of the journey that led to one of the sport’s most remarkable achievements: the 2009 season, where Brawn GP won both the Drivers’ and Constructors’ World Championships. The story of that extraordinary year was later told in the 2023 Disney+ documentary “Brawn: The Impossible Formula 1 Story.”

Being embedded in this transformation taught Nicole what it truly takes to unite people behind a shared goal during uncertainty, change and intense competitive pressure.

Leadership at Mercedes-AMG Formula 1

Following the team’s acquisition by Mercedes-Benz, Nicole stepped into the role of Head of Internal Communications at Mercedes-AMG F1. Here, she shaped the employee experience for more than 1,300 people.

Her work supported the culture and communication systems behind one of the greatest dynasties in Formula 1 history. During this era, the team secured nine Constructors’ World Championships and eight Drivers’ World Championships, working with drivers such as Lewis Hamilton, Nico Rosberg and Valtteri Bottas.

Nicole helped design the frameworks that kept engineers, mechanics, drivers and leadership aligned around a single performance vision. In an environment where milliseconds define success, clarity of communication and cultural cohesion are decisive advantages.

Her insights go beyond theory. She shares what it means to build trust in high-stakes settings, how to sustain motivation across long seasons, and how leadership communication shapes performance outcomes.

Founder of The Comms Exchange

Today, Nicole channels her experience into The Comms Exchange. As Founder and Director, she works with organisations across sectors to build high-performing, people-centric cultures.

  • Build resilient teams that thrive under pressure
