Beyond Gizmos: Creating & capturing value from digital innovation

Digitization has led to a dramatic reduction in the costs of creating, transmitting and consuming information along with the development of novel solutions to manage and process it.

The digital revolution has not only changed the business environment as we knew it, but even altered the rules of competition in the market. Yet, while most companies equip themselves with potentially groundbreaking technologies, only a few manage to actually capture value and profit from them. Why? Because each technology needs to be combined with the right business model, or it will remain only a costly gizmo.

To thrive in an environment that is increasingly hypercompetitive and uncertain, executives need to first understand and then unlock the competitive advantage that technology can bring to their business, and capture value by innovating their business model.

This research-based lecture aims to unveil how to boost performance by integrating knowledge at the crossroad between digital innovation and business and corporate strategy, offering a guide on how to use technology to create and capture value from a business ideas, for example leveraging the power of AI, platform ecosystems and big data analytics.
