Dr. Pine’s Program was fascinating. I know it is a real turning point for me in terms of how I proceed in my personal and professional life. What was exciting is that it is empirically oriented, and this makes it very easy to understand. The information from her work broadened my scope. I can apply it to my country and other work. In Nigeria, there are religious and cultural aspects and influences ... if we don’t’ get ahold of the impact of it all, there will be continued problems.

I plan to take the information I got from Dr. Pine and her work and get it into the schools. We need to teach parents and teachers about spanking and wrongful touch. When teachers and parents are aware of the consequences, they can be instrumental in making change.

I liked the information provided in Dr. Pine’s Program about stopping the hitting. I’m very much about heart-felt conversations – there has to be better conversation – and it’s important to think about how to do that. This Program helped me to understand how to work toward the development of programs to create change. I am hoping to follow on with the master’s degree to get the credentials, so I am listened to. I want to make a difference on the ground, which is so important.

An important point that I gained from Dr. Pine’s program was learning how to make a road map to make a difference. Also important was the emphasis on follow-up... If nothing is done after reporting, it could be even worse for the survivor. Then, we need, too, to use the information we have to get organizations – schools, churches, others – to get involved. I plan to use the information I have and the new credentials from the Program to get into establishments and make a difference.

Dr. Pine’s Program helped me understand how the focus on ACEs developed and how one type of trauma often happens in conjunction with other traumas, and comparative research. We have to recognize those relationships and interactions. The presentations forced me to look more at the statistics and understand them.

This lady is very hard-working and loyal to the cause. I identify with her in that I'd love to be as dedicated to helping fight for children's rights as she has been for many years.

I thought this would mostly be a refresher, but no! I have learned SO MUCH! In one of the sessions that you gave, Pam, it was if you were talking to me! You said, “We have to reach the whole community and if you are doing this, you’re doing the right thing! I really needed to hear that!” This Program is one of the highlights of my year. I am happy to be a part of this.
