About India

  • India is located in Southern Asia and is a vast country with a population around 1.2 billion people. Only China has a larger population.
  • Many different languages are spoken in India. Best know, perhaps, is the Punjabi, Bengali and Hindi languages. For many years India was part of the British Empire but declared independence in 1947.
  • India is associated with Taj Mahal, one of the true architectural masterpieces in the world, with the Bollywood movie industry, with the acitivist Mahatma Ghandi, the charity legend Mother Teresa and the musician Ravi Shankar.
