Shola Richards is one of the few people I’ve ever met in my life that can discuss difficult, uncomfortable, and taboo topics and make it fun, educational, and eye-opening. There isn’t a single session where I don’t have an emotional breakdown from either acknowledging a previous pain or realizing how I have emotionally wounded others. All of this is done in a thoughtful and entertaining manner, which eases the swallowing of the difficult truth pill. I equate it to waking up and finding out you’ve been in the Matrix, but being told my realities in the form of a musical. I didn’t think it was possible to laugh and smile as I wrestled my innermost personal demons. Shola is 100% man and 100% saint. I know that those percentages don’t add up correctly, but I can’t mentally give him any less than those percentages. I’m so grateful that he shares his time and wisdom with us.

I would like to give my full endorsement to Shola Richards by highlighting what an extraordinary keynote speaker he is. He spoke at our event where we launched professional development to all of our campus staff and faculty at Cal Poly Pomona. I heard him speak before and knew exactly what we needed to ensure success. And it was Shola. His positivity and energy is infectious. The way he models every single concept he teaches with anyone he encounters is humbling. Employees left our event with a fire under them and tears in their eyes. It was nothing short of spectacular. What I appreciate the most about Shola is the way his message creates simple yet powerful action items that will make anyone’s organization better than they were before he came. If you want to elevate excellence and inspire employees to be the best version of themselves, then he is YOUR game changer. UBUNTU!!!

I had the pleasure of seeing Shola address a 1000+ person crowd at the Institute of Internal Auditors International Conference on the topic of “courageous civility” addressing DEI in the workplace. Not only was his content highly relevant and insightful, but it was delivered in a way that was authentic and relatable to a global audience representing 40+ countries. His approach to discussing DEI was original yet practical such that attendees could take away tangible actions. My favorite advice of his—“tap into your hire-self”—I will take this with me for life. I recommend Shola to any audience looking for an impactful, engaging presentation.

Today, more than ever, we need to find our way back to kindness, respect and civility. At school, at home and in our workplaces. Shola Richards is by far among the top motivational speakers I have worked with (or heard) in a 25+ year career in media and marketing. He’s entertaining, relatable to every demo and GENUINE. As a speaker, or as a corporate educator, I would highly recommend Shola. His skills, attitude and message will pay tangible dividends to your team or event and leave every participant personally motivated and engaged to do (and be) better colleagues, teammates, classmates. Unlike so many other speakers, the “shine” you take away from Shola does not fade.

Shola provided the MOST EPIC opening for our annual conference at IAAP. He was incredibly engaging, authentic, and provided so many takeaways for our attendees that they are still talking about his message. I would highly recommend any organization looking for a boost of kindness and energy to let Shola come in and offer his wisdom and guidance to your group or team. 12/10 stars from me!

UNSTOPPABLE RESILIENCE™

THE KEYS TO STAYING STRONG DURING ANY CHALLENGE

This is a uniquely difficult time for leaders and individual contributors in workplaces all over America. We are still managing the aftereffects of battling a deadly pandemic for over four years (and counting), there are deep divisions that have been exposed within our country, parents are overwhelmed as they balance their careers with raising their kids in this exhausting new reality, employees are feeling increased anxiety and mental health challenges, and according to recent studies, Americans are the unhappiest they have been in the past 50 years. Needless to say, navigating all of the aforementioned challenges can have a significant impact on one’s overall well-being, mental health and resilience. The Unstoppable Resilience™ keynote provides the audience with the highly-practical strategies to build unshakable strength within themselves and within their teams.

This keynote is ideal for individual contributors, leaders, and teams who are:

  • Feeling overwhelmed with the multiple competing priorities (both at work and at home) that are draining them mentally and emotionally.

  • Experiencing heightened stress levels as they manage the seemingly-nonstop onslaught of incoming unpleasant news happening in the world around them, ongoing anxieties and mental health challenges, and the expectation of bringing their best selves to their work, despite their internal or external stressors.

Unsure of how to support their colleagues who may be struggling.

The audience will leave with:

  • The keys to creating a resilient mindset, regardless of the circumstances.
  • The strategy to apply the aforementioned keys to any challenge that the attendees are currently facing (professionally, personally, or otherwise).

  • Personalized commitments that the attendees will use to build their resilience, and a strategy to stay accountable to their new commitments.

COURAGEOUS CIVILITY™

CREATING A CULTURE OF EQUITY, DIVERSITY AND BELONGING

Creating and sustaining a culture of equity, diversity and belonging can be challenging and exhausting work. Not only does it require the willingness to actively work against inequities, bias and discrimination in the workplace, but equally as important, it requires the courage to actively take part in uncomfortable (but necessary) discussions. The highly-engaging Courageous Civility™ keynote provides the audience with the key tools, strategies, and information necessary to engage in this important work, while also ensuring that the commitment to this work remains long after the keynote ends.

This keynote is ideal for individual contributors, leaders, and teams who are:

  • Interested in creating a culture of equity, diversity and belonging, but don't know where to begin.

  • Concerned about the current climate of divisiveness in America, and its impact on marginalized communities’ mental health, safety and overall well-being.

  • Unaware of how to effectively engage in difficult conversations with colleagues and others about bias and inequities.

  • Ready to address harmful mischaracterizations about equity, diversity and belonging initiatives.

The audience will leave with:

  • Strategies to recognize bias, prejudice, and/or microaggressions in the workplace, and how to address it immediately and strategically.

  • Powerful data that shows that diverse teams are better at making decisions, more attractive to potential clients, consistently outperform competitors (and more!)

  • The education and the inspiration to stay committed to the ongoing work of equity, diversity and belonging.
