“I highly recommend working with Aoife as a speaker based on the recent talk she gave at our leadership summit with Ciena's early-in-career employee resource group. She spoke about recognizing imposter syndrome and shared practical tips for managing it. Her presentation was very clear and easy to understand, which helped create an inclusive environment for an open discussion. The feedback in the room was overwhelmingly positive, with our attendees finding comfort in recognizing their imposter syndrome and knowing that it is common, even among leaders. Working with Aoife was a pleasure. She tailored the content to fit our summit's objectives and made the experience comfortable and enjoyable for everyone involved. Aoife O’Brien is a Leadership and Culture Strategist who helps organisations create workplaces where people can perform at their best and want to stay. With more than 20 years of corporate experience and an MSc in Organisational Behaviour, she blends academic rigour with practical commercial insight. As author of Thriving Talent: How Great Leaders Drive Performance, Engagement and Retention (Blue Goat Books, 2026), Aoife equips leaders with clear, research-backed strategies to strengthen culture, capability and long-term performance.

Aoife O’Brien – Leadership and Culture Strategist

Aoife O’Brien is a Leadership and Culture Strategist dedicated to helping organisations build cultures where people thrive and performance follows. Her work centres on a clear belief: when leaders intentionally shape the environment around their teams, engagement, capability and retention improve in measurable ways.

With over 20 years of corporate experience, Aoife understands the realities leaders face. She combines this hands-on commercial background with an MSc in Organisational Behaviour, allowing her to bridge research and day-to-day leadership practice with credibility and clarity. Her approach is grounded in evidence and shaped by experience across complex, global organisations.

Author of Thriving Talent

In 2026, Aoife published Thriving Talent: How Great Leaders Drive Performance, Engagement and Retention (Blue Goat Books). The book brings together years of research, corporate insight and practical application into a structured framework leaders can use immediately.

At the core of her work is the Thriving Talent methodology – an evidence-based approach that equips leaders with practical tools to:

 • Align organisational values with everyday leadership behaviours

 • Strengthen team capability through strengths-based development

 • Build psychological safety that supports learning and innovation

 • Create the conditions for sustained, high-level performance

Rather than relying on surface-level culture initiatives, Aoife challenges organisations to examine how leadership behaviours consistently reinforce – or undermine – their stated values. Her work moves culture from aspiration to action.

Psychological Safety and High Performance

A central theme in Aoife O’Brien’s keynotes is psychological safety. Drawing on leading research in organisational behaviour, she demonstrates how environments that encourage speaking up, learning from mistakes and open dialogue directly impact performance and retention.

Her focus on strengths-based capability development helps leaders recognise and amplify what individuals and teams naturally do well. This approach increases engagement while building confidence and accountability.

Aoife works closely with leadership teams to ensure that culture is not treated as a standalone initiative, but as a daily leadership responsibility. She provides frameworks and language that make culture tangible, measurable and practical.

Trusted by Global Organisations

Aoife has partnered with organisations including Ciena, Logitech, Boston Scientific, MSD, Deloitte and Meta. Her work spans technology, financial services, pharma and FMCG sectors, giving her a broad perspective on the challenges and opportunities facing modern organisations.

Host of the Award-Winning Happier at Work Podcast

Aoife is also the host of the award-winning Happier at Work podcast, ranked in the top 2% globally with listeners in over 100 countries. Through in-depth conversations with leading thinkers in leadership and organisational culture, she continues to explore the connection between research and practice.

“HubSpot had the opportunity to witness Aoife's splendid abilities to conduct a workshop for a hybrid audience where she walked us through a unique perspective about Balance in life. Her content was well curated and well thought, the delivery was powerful and her impact was very evident through the live discussion and on the spot quick thinking that Aoife showcased when answering audience questions. This session was for EMEA Customer Success as a part of a mindfulness and growth initiative and her focus for the session was on Balance and mental health. I am very confident in Aoife's abilities to adapt and address what is key for the organisations she collaborates with. Personally I love the warmth of her personality, her authenticity and genuine investment in all the pursuits she puts her energy in. My heart was warmed at finally meeting her personally. Keep growing, keep spreading your message and keep scaling your impact dear Aoife”

“Aoife was the speaker for the Women’s Network DE&I month event at MSD in September. She gave a valuable, engaging session in person and online to approx. 50 people, on the subject of “Happier Careers, Happier Lives”. Her content was so relevant and thought provoking, and it resonated with everyone who attended. The content was new for many, but Aoife delivered it in an inclusive manner, with polished delivery and lots of humour. In the days and weeks following the event, many people spoke to me about the changes they had made and the different way they were thinking since Aoife’s talk. Aoife shared wonderful resources and made the entire experience easy for the Women’s Network from the moment we engaged with her. It was really easy to work with her on a practical level - she has a user-friendly booking system, and she was very accommodating with our scheduling requests. Overall, a very positive experience and we would work with Aoife again in a heartbeat!”

“Aoife was a fantastic speaker at our recent staff event, speaking to staff on the theme of being "Happier at Work." We held a two-day, in-person event for around 300 employees, and Aoife engaged every single person in the room from the moment she stepped on stage. Her delivery was insightful, relatable, and full of practical strategies that our staff could take away and apply immediately. Aoife has a natural ability to connect with audiences and spark meaningful reflection, and the feedback we received from staff was overwhelmingly positive. Her passion for workplace wellbeing and her deep knowledge of the subject truly shone through. Aoife encouraged open conversations around values, engagement, and finding purpose in the workplace. Aoife’s session added real value to our event, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to any organisation looking to inspire and empower their teams.”

I have worked with Aoife on several occasions whilst working at two different companies and have very much enjoyed partnering with her recently for our Women at Ciena ERG initiatives and our 'Thrive' employee development program on the topic of Imposter Syndrome! Our Women at Ciena event on 'Imposter Syndrome' was a great success with over 70 participants from different countries around the world and similarly, our 50+ Thrive program participants greatly appreciated learning more about this topic and how to overcome Imposter syndrome, many of whom are from underrepresented minority groups and could therefore strongly resonate with this topic and understand how to navigate this!

Aoife was extremely flexible and friendly when working with us and was happy to customize the Imposter Syndrome session to meet the goals and outcomes of our Thrive development program, including inviting our Ciena leaders onto the session and engaging them in the discussion so our participants could hear their experiences!

Aoife's delivered the session with confidence and great clarity for our global audience and understood how to engage our virtual participants and really get the discussion going!
