Through FounderFamilia, a network of over 500 venture-backed Latine founders, the foundation has funneled more than $1 million into promising startups through its national pitch competition and strategic partnerships. With corporate backing from J.P. Morgan, AWS, Comcast, Gunderson and other major organizations, Cheryl’s leadership continues to amplify opportunities for underrepresented innovators and reshape the future of venture capital.

Scaling Startups to Unicorns

Before launching her nonprofit, Cheryl was at the forefront of the startup ecosystem as Head of Venture Growth and Partnerships at Republic, an investment platform empowering founders to raise capital from both accredited and non-accredited investors. Joining as employee #10 in 2018, she played a key role in scaling Republic to unicorn status with a $1 billion valuation. Her strategic insight and relationship-building helped drive Republic’s explosive growth and positioned her as a leading figure in venture innovation.

Beyond Republic, Cheryl is also a scout for Lightspeed Venture Partners and an investment partner at The Community Fund, where she has supported over 20 community-focused startups, particularly in healthcare.
