Empathy-first thought leader transforming workplaces through human connection, resilience, and real-world experience.

Chris Britton is a forward-thinking thought leader, author, and podcast host who has spent over 15 years leading the people agenda for some of the world’s most recognised brands, including Virgin, Vodafone, River Island, and Reward Gateway. His empathy-first approach to humanity has helped organisations embrace positive change and unlock high performance by truly seeing people for who they are, not just what they do. Blending humour, personal storytelling, and cutting-edge research, Chris engages audiences worldwide with messages that are as moving as they are practical. Whether discussing leadership, resilience, or wellbeing, he brings authenticity, curiosity, and compassion to every stage he steps on.

A Human Approach to Leadership

Chris Britton’s philosophy is simple yet revolutionary: empathy drives performance. With a career spanning global household names, he has consistently proven that success begins with understanding people. By leading the people strategy at organisations such as Virgin, Vodafone, River Island, and Reward Gateway, Chris has helped transform workplace cultures from the inside out. His talks challenge outdated notions of productivity and shine a light on the human stories behind high performance.

From Northern Ireland to Global Stages

Growing up during the Troubles in Northern Ireland in the 1990s shaped Chris’s fascination with human behaviour—how people think, choose, and act, especially under pressure. This curiosity led him to study Criminology and Psychology at Brighton University, laying the groundwork for a career focused on human potential. But theory alone wasn’t enough. In 2015, Chris joined Sussex Police as a Special Constable, a role he continues to hold today. His experiences on the frontline bring raw authenticity to his storytelling, giving audiences an unfiltered look at humanity in its most vulnerable moments.

Blending Insight, Emotion, and Action

Chris’s presentations are a masterful mix of research, emotional storytelling, and humour. He connects deeply with audiences by revealing both the triumphs and struggles that shape us. His personal story includes resilience in the face of post-natal depression a condition not often discussed among men and the emotional work of reclaiming an uncertain identity. Through his honesty, he invites others to reflect, grow, and act with courage.

Rethinking Wellbeing and Masculinity

In a world that often demands people to “do more with less,” Chris questions the sustainability of this approach. Instead, he encourages organisations to embrace the science of appreciation and what he calls “wholebeing”—a new model for wellbeing that recognises the complexity of human life. His insights on masculinity, vulnerability, and emotional intelligence are timely, relevant, and deeply needed in workplaces seeking authenticity and balance.

Lessons from the Frontline

Chris’s dual life as a business leader and police officer gives his talks a rare depth. He draws on real experiences from the boardroom to the crime scene to illustrate how people operate under extreme pressure. These stories are gripping, often emotional, and always revealing. They give audiences a behind-the-scenes look at humanity and help leaders understand the power of empathy in decision-making, leadership, and culture-building.
