Chris came highly recommended to us as a speaker who would be able to address the topic of leadership which we had identified as a critical issue for retailers in this period of unprecedented change. He more than delivered on this by fully engaging with our delegates and led an important panel discussion on the main stage. His keynote address however was outstanding in pulling together all the strands from the Congress and setting out clearly some takeaway points that were extremely relevant, thought-provoking and helpful to all of the retail leaders in the audience.

We had a fabulous session with Chris. He really worked his magic to bring servant leadership to life. We had the pleasure of inviting Chris to our annual leadership conference this year which was absolutely fantastic and a really pertinent part of the 2 days his presentations were interactive, plenty of "light bulb" moments, tasks for the participants and a great deal of food for thought. Chris, I enjoyed an incredibly inspiring and rewarding 'leading with integrity' seminar with you at the UK Defence Academy in March 2016, which I continue to use as inspiration for leading my own high performing teams at sea. As it happens, tomorrow I am using it as inspiration to conduct a workshop with a group of about 10 officers and senior NCOs. We are deployed on operations on the other side of the world in the Asia Pacific on a 10 month deployment, far from home and on strategic tasking - leading and inspiring people could not be more important.

Maximise Employee Engagement

Employee engagement - people giving their best - is the engine of success for any organisation. But the reality is most organisations are significantly underperforming on their potential to get the best from their people because their leaders simply don't understand employee engagement well enough. 

The real challenge is how you can increase the number of people in your team who are engaged and giving their best by being more human centric. To achieve this you probably need to understand employee engagement in more depth, eg the difference between engaged, not engaged, and disengaged. And then how to move people to become fully engaged. Quite simply most leaders have never been told what they need to know about employee engagement to be successful. Chris gives you that vital information and shows you how to maximise engagement.


Chris has studied employee engagement, written articles on it, featured it in his books, and shown leaders how to improve it for many organisations such as KPMG, Tata Communications and HSBC. It works – a house construction company he worked with in two years moved the engagement score for “I would recommend this as a great place to work for friends or family” from 40% to 82%. And significant performance and financial benefits also followed.

Often even doing “business as usual” presents a challenge for most leaders as they are under pressure to deliver. Then if change and transformation needs to happen it not only adds to the pressure but also creates uncertainty.

Chris has led work on several successful major transformations in organisations as diverse as London Underground, UBS and UK National Health Service. The transformation at UBS is now a Harvard case study on successful integration and change in uncertainty. Chris was Hon Visiting Professor of Transformational Leadership at Cass Business School 2009-22.


He enables you to create an environment of certainty amidst the uncertainty which then allows individuals and teams to be more motivated, effective, resilient and aligned to what needs to be done.
