Keynote by Dennis Khoo:
Large incumbents all over the world are transforming, but there is evidence that points to the fact that less than 1 in 3 are succeeding. Our research indicates that such failures within larger incumbent companies are due to the lack of a holistic approach and the assumption that "what works for start-ups or other companies will also work for us". With disruption, global competition, and plenty of choice for today's customers, business transformation will become a way of doing business rather than an initiative. Yet, with such high failure rates and trillions of dollars being invested in transformation and innovation, incumbent companies are faced with the dilemma of damned if you do and damned if you don't.
Our central thesis is that a new and holistic transformation approach is the path forward, but no such holistic yet practical method is available today. We have developed one of the first such holistic approaches that can help companies around the world improve their probability of success when they transform. A holistic approach that encompasses Customers, Business, Capabilities, and People and Leadership are needed to overcome today's business transformation failures.
Yet, whilst more and more practitioners and thought leaders are beginning to align with such holistic approaches, no simple and elegant method that can scale to handle complex problems, which often have wicked circular loops and interaction effects exists today.
