08.12.2015 Interview with Jenn Lim
How do you prepare for speaking engagements?
I put myself in the (literal) shoes of the audience and prep to answer their question of “why” — ‘why would listening to this person matter to my life. ‘So whether they’re wearing nike, clarks or manolo blahnik — by the end of it, they’ll have at least one answer to that question (ideally/usually more).
What types of unique experiences have you had as a result of your profession?
No matter where i am in the world, i keep an open mind to situations, experiences and people — which give me a unique experience every day
Can you give 3 tips for creating a fun, positive company culture?
Create an environment where:
- people can be true to their weird (authentic) selves
- there’s alignment on purpose and values
- everyone knows it’s about me/we/community
Why is happiness important to you?
I believe happiness is being true to yourself and living out your passions/purpose, every day so i think Ralph Waldo Emerson summarizes the importance well: “What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us”.
Why do clients typically hire you to speak?
We bring a new perspective on culture/work/happiness and we also recognize new perspectives (on any topic) can be inspirational but the difference is that we also know there’s tangible/practical ways (i.e. the HOW) in getting it done.
