Meet Jessica Janzen
Jessica Janzen is a motivational speaker, coach, entrepreneur, bestselling author, philanthropist, wife to “Hot Ronnie,” mother of three and a go-getter with an unmistakable energy for life. Born and raised on her family farm in Manitoba, Jessica now calls Calgary, Alberta home, having traded her rural roots for life as a self-described city slicker.
At the heart of Jessica’s work is a simple but powerful idea: joy can be something we actively bring into our lives, including during the moments that challenge us most. Her experiences have shaped her into an advocate for mental health, rare diseases and joy, while giving her a perspective on adversity that is deeply personal.
Jessica is a live wire who brings energy, openness and purpose to the stage. Her mission is to help people shift their perspective, become curious about what is possible and create a clearer pathway from adversity to achievement. She wants audiences to leave ready to move toward the goals and dreams that matter to them.
Turning adversity into action
Jessica’s story is closely connected to her work as Co-Founder of The Love for Lewiston Foundation. Through the foundation, she has helped raise more than $4 million in support of Spinal Muscular Atrophy research and medical care.
Her advocacy has also contributed to meaningful change in Alberta. Jessica played a pivotal role in implementing Newborn Screening for Spinal Muscular Atrophy in the province, helping bring greater attention to SMA and the importance of early screening. She continues to support the Alberta Children’s Hospital as part of her commitment to helping families and advancing medical care.
This work reflects an important part of Jessica Janzen’s approach to life. When faced with adversity, she looks for ways to turn experience into action. Rather than allowing difficult circumstances to define what comes next, she encourages people to get curious about their options, change their perspective and identify where they can create momentum.
Bring The Joy
Jessica is also the author of the bestselling book Bring The Joy, which encourages readers to reconnect with themselves and discover joy during some of life’s most difficult times.
For Jessica, bringing the joy is grounded in lived experience. It is about choosing how to meet the circumstances in front of you and recognizing that difficult moments and joy can exist within the same life. This perspective sits at the centre of her speaking, coaching and advocacy.
Her message invites audiences to consider the role perspective plays in the way they approach challenges, ambitions and everyday life. Jessica encourages people to get curious rather than stay stuck, reconnect with what matters to them and identify the actions that can help them move forward.
Her work explores themes including:
- Shifting perspective when circumstances change
- Finding and creating joy during difficult periods
- Moving from adversity toward achievement
- Getting curious about possibilities and opportunities
- Reconnecting with personal goals and dreams
- Turning challenging experiences into purposeful action
A recognized voice for change
Jessica Janzen’s contributions as an entrepreneur, philanthropist, advocate and community leader have been recognized with several prestigious awards, including being named among Calgary’s Top 40 Under 40.
Yet the titles and recognition are only part of her story. Behind them is someone who describes herself, at her core, as a helper. Jessica wants to give people the encouragement and perspective they need to see a way forward, particularly when the path ahead feels uncertain.
Her combination of personal experience, philanthropy, advocacy and entrepreneurship allows her to speak about achievement from several different angles. She understands the importance of having ambitious goals while also recognizing that life rarely follows a perfectly predictable route.
That tension between what we plan and what we face is where Jessica’s message becomes especially relevant. She encourages audiences to consider what can happen when they stop waiting for ideal circumstances and begin working with the life, opportunities and challenges in front of them.
