From theatre to technology

Amelia Kallman comes from a non-traditional technology background, which is a big part of what makes her such a compelling speaker. Originally from a theatrical background, she began her tech career by chance in 2013 at a creative technology agency. From there, she worked her way up to become Global Head of Innovation.

During this time, she opened, operated and curated both pop-up and permanent tech labs in London, Scotland and Dubai. These spaces were developed for major clients including Accenture, PWC, KPMG and EY. The experience gave her a practical understanding of how innovation can be explored, tested and communicated inside large organisations.

Since going freelance in 2017, Amelia has become an in-demand international speaker and independent futurist. Clients value her frank, unbiased and ethical assessments, especially at a time when many voices in tech are focused on endorsing, marketing or selling. Amelia offers something different: thoughtful perspective, clear language and a balanced view of both opportunity and risk.

Working across industries including technology, financial services, retail, manufacturing, property, healthcare, hospitality, education, and the arts, her clients include AT&T, Bloomberg, Allianz, AXA, Adobe, Financial Times, Puma, PWC, Unilever, JLL, Vinci, Visa, Bending Spoons, Lloyd's, Red Bull, the English National Ballet, Mars Wrigley, and UK Parliament.

Her work looks at the future of work, and the future of both the customer and employee experiences through the lens of technology, innovation, and strategy. Applying her research and expertise across industries, she speaks often on the topic of artificial intelligence, from generative and physical AI, to ethics, trustable frameworks, and education. Her work also includes XR, robotics, quantum computing, fusion, Gen Alpha, and biotech.

Following her TEDx talk “Is the Metaverse Bad for the Environment?”, she has focused on the environmental impact of emerging technologies and the broader implications of AI.

Amelia's keynotes generally start with the Big Picture and what's driving this technological renaissance, before getting more specific into the technologies and industry she is addressing. She provides actions to future-proof ourselves, as well as a game plan for how leaders can build trust around new technologies with both employees and customers. Conclusions are often future-gazing, ending with a provocative challenge that leaves people feeling inspired and motivated.

"It's always my goal to communicate in a way that is engaging, entertaining, and empowering." Humanising technology and conveying complex ideas in a way that is easy to understand, Amelia is known to interact with audiences through imagination activities, share personal anecdotes, and to include a short film within the context of her talks that's custom made to the client and event.
