André is one of the most passionate musicians I know, with a powerful story to match. His physical challenges have driven him forward rather than holding him back. At our TEDxNijmegen 2013 event, he completely captivated the audience. Standing alone on stage, on one of his wooden boxes, he filled a 950-seat theatre with his music and story. Backstage, one of the speakers who was about to go on after him said: “What an incredible atmosphere this guy creates.” After hearing André — and already loving Chris Botti’s music — most trumpets I hear today sound almost harsh in comparison. André’s sound and presence are something else entirely.

Resonant leadership through music, presence, and performance

André Heuvelman is a keynote speaker who moves beyond words. With a background as a principal trumpeter in the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra and as an entrepreneur in executive search, he brings a rare combination of artistic depth and strategic understanding. His keynotes are immersive experiences where music, silence, and storytelling come together to explore leadership, performance, and human connection. André invites leaders and teams to slow down, listen differently, and discover how true impact emerges under pressure.

André Heuvelman keynote speaker

André Heuvelman is a speaker and performer who redefines what a keynote can be. Drawing from his career as a former principal trumpeter of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra and his work in executive search, he connects the worlds of high performance, leadership, and organizational dynamics. His approach centers on one essential idea: real impact does not come from control alone, but from resonance, presence, and awareness.

When you book André Heuvelman for your event, you invite an experience that reaches deeper than traditional presentations. His keynotes are designed to create space — space for reflection, insight, and meaningful change.

From world stage to leadership insight

Performing at the highest musical level taught André what it truly means to operate under pressure. On stage, there is no room for distraction. Timing, listening, and presence define the outcome. These principles now form the foundation of his work with leaders and organizations.

Through his company andheuvelman.com, he operates within executive search, working closely with boardrooms and leadership teams. This gives him direct insight into the challenges organizations face today: complexity, constant change, and increasing demands on performance. He translates lessons from the concert hall into practical leadership strategies that resonate in business environments.

Pressure as creative force

In many organizations, pressure is seen as something to manage or reduce. André offers a different perspective. He demonstrates how pressure can become a source of clarity, creativity, and growth when approached with the right mindset.

His keynotes explore how leaders can shift from reacting to pressure toward using it as fuel. By creating space instead of adding more control, leaders unlock new ways of thinking and collaborating. This shift enables teams to perform with greater focus, trust, and adaptability.

Music plays a central role in this process. Whether through live trumpet playing or intentional silence, André creates moments where insights are not only understood but felt. This combination of sound and stillness allows ideas to land on a deeper level.

What happens on stage

A keynote by André Heuvelman is an experience that engages both intellect and emotion. He alternates between speaking, playing music, and allowing silence to shape the room. Participants are invited to slow down and truly listen — to themselves, to others, and to what is happening in the moment.

This creates a unique dynamic where reflection and interaction emerge naturally. Instead of overwhelming audiences with information, André focuses on creating awareness and clarity. The result is a lasting impact that continues beyond the event itself.

André has for many years been an advisor to Revalidatie Friesland’s Music Clinic, the Sailing Brass Foundation, and its platform embouchure.nl. Through this work, he is also connected with international music scientists collaborating on our projects in cities such as Hannover, Freiburg, Vienna, Barcelona, and Sydney. Music from his orchestra is also used as background for the Total Breathing Concept.

André is a passionate performer — someone who conveys his passion, soul, and dedication to his audience with great impact. We have had André as a guest speaker at several Blauwhoed events. The musical sounds of his trumpet support his life story in a powerful way. André inspires, connects, and truly moves people. He knows exactly how to add a personal note — both literally and figuratively — to any meeting or event.

André is always a pleasure to work with. Within the often somewhat conservative cultural world, he actively seeks out discussion — precisely to loosen up thinking and move things forward, beyond the comfort of a familiar horizon. That generates a great deal of energy. I also vividly remember a content-rich and inspiring project with Cherry Duyns. In addition, his personal story is highly inspiring. He combines his deep, natural love for the trumpet with a strong drive to rethink and improve processes. Especially with the aim of helping people feel happier in their work, enabling them to perform better and create more value — both for themselves and their organizations. André is a multi-talent who, as a partner at Van Olphen Company alongside inspirer Richard de Jongh, has truly found his place. I highly recommend him to anyone in my network as a “thought catalyst” and an unconventional, exceptionally original searcher for talent for your organization. And beyond that, he is simply a very pleasant person.
