Book Hufsa Ahmad for your event

Hufsa Ahmad, LCSW, brings an unusual combination of engineering, psychotherapy, behavioral health expertise, comedy and deeply personal storytelling to the stage. An engineer-turned-psychotherapist, acclaimed behavioral health consultant, two-time TEDx speaker and internationally touring stand-up comedian, she creates dynamic conversations around some of the most pressing challenges facing people and workplaces today.

Her work explores AI, mental health, burnout, resilience and the evolving workplace. Rather than treating these subjects as separate conversations, Hufsa connects technology with the human realities of change, stress, vulnerability and growth. The result is an engaging approach grounded in both professional expertise and lived experience.

Across 12 years in behavioral health, Hufsa has digitally implemented evidence-based strategies designed to reduce high-risk behaviors and address complex mental health challenges. These strategies have positively impacted more than 200,000 people in eight languages, giving her extensive experience in translating clinical knowledge into approaches that can reach diverse audiences at scale.

From lived experience to empowerment

Hufsa's professional work is closely connected to her own story. As a late-diagnosed neurodivergent, she draws on lived experience with the very conditions she now treats. Her understanding of mental health therefore comes from multiple perspectives: as a licensed clinical social worker, behavioral health professional, advocate and someone who has personally navigated significant mental health challenges.

She was among the first to publicly share her powerful experiences with mental health challenges, addiction and suicidality through two TEDx talks. The talks went viral and demonstrated how openness and vulnerability can become catalysts for empowerment. Both presentations were subsequently featured on TED.com, an honor received by less than 1% of TEDx presentations.

This willingness to address difficult experiences openly is central to Hufsa Ahmad's work as a speaker. She makes room for conversations that can otherwise feel uncomfortable or overwhelming and gives audiences a way to engage with them through insight, humanity and humor.

Advocacy and equitable access

A trilingual, Pakistani-American Muslim woman, LGBTQIA+ ally and licensed clinical social worker, Hufsa has dedicated a significant part of her career to advocating for underserved communities. Her work has been recognized by organizations including the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), Mental Health Association (MHA) and the Substance Use and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).

As Vice President of the Dayle McIntosh Center for the Disabled, Hufsa championed the integration of mental health into the broader conversation around disability and equitable access. Her advocacy reflects a belief that meaningful conversations about wellbeing need to consider the different experiences, barriers and circumstances people bring with them.

These perspectives add depth to her work with audiences. Hufsa understands that workplace wellbeing, mental health and resilience cannot be reduced to a single formula. She encourages audiences to consider the wider systems and environments that influence how people work, cope, connect and thrive.

Humor opens the conversation

Comedy is another essential part of Hufsa Ahmad's approach. As an internationally touring stand-up comedian and comedic writer, she has reached the final rounds of consideration for late-night programs including The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

On stage, she uses family-friendly humor with purpose. It creates a welcoming atmosphere and helps audiences approach challenging ideas with curiosity rather than defensiveness. By combining humor with behavioral health expertise, storytelling and vulnerability, Hufsa encourages people to engage with complex subjects while developing a growth mindset.

Audiences can expect perspectives that are thoughtful without becoming inaccessible and personal without losing sight of practical relevance. Her combination of disciplines allows her to connect subjects that are rarely explored together in the same keynote.

AI, burnout and the evolving workplace

As artificial intelligence continues to influence how people work, Hufsa brings attention to the human questions accompanying technological change. Her background as both an engineer and psychotherapist gives her a distinctive foundation for conversations at the intersection of AI and mental health.

Her speaking can engage audiences around themes including:

  • AI, mental health and the human experience of workplace change
  • Burnout, resilience and evidence-based approaches to wellbeing
  • Vulnerability as a pathway to connection, growth and empowerment
  • Neurodivergence and different experiences of the workplace
  • Mental health, disability and equitable access
  • Using humor to approach challenging conversations and encourage a growth mindset

For organizations looking to move beyond surface-level conversations about workplace wellbeing, booking Hufsa Ahmad offers an opportunity to explore mental health and resilience through clinical expertise, personal experience and an understanding of technological change.

Her forthcoming book on resilience, Same Shiite, Different Day, is scheduled for release in 2027, continuing the candid and engaging approach that defines her work on stage.
