Academically educated in economics, speaker James Galbraith has studied at several prestigious institutions: King’s College, Harvard and Yale. Since completing his studies, he has attained over 3 decades of real-world experience and first-hand understanding of economics. All while traveling the globe, advancing the frontiers of economics.

From 1993 to 1997, he served as chief technical adviser to China’s State Planning Commission for macroeconomic reform, and in the first half of 2015 he served as an informal counselor to Yanis Varoufakis, the Greek Minister of Finance.  In 2016 he advised the presidential campaign of Senator Bernie Sanders.

Speaker James Galbraith actively uses his understanding of economy for the betterment of society. As such he directs the University of Texas Inequality Project, and he chaired the board of Economists for Peace and Security for 10 years.
