Keynote speaker Josh Tickell has been inspiring change since 1997, when he captured global attention by driving a van powered by used French Fry oil across the United States. “The Veggie Van,” as it was called, was a viral sensation. This was only four years after the first web browser was introduced, yet Tickell’s Veggie Van Website received over 1 million visitors!

By 1998, Tickell had published his first book and was touring colleges. College students enthusiastically embraced Tickell’s philosophy of making the world a better place through disruptive technologies, efficiency and common-sense changes to wasteful practices. Tickell continued his lecture tour de force for a decade – going to over 150 colleges. His journey culminated in 2008 with the release of his first feature film, FUEL. It won the Sundance Audience Award for Best Documentary, was shortlisted for an Oscar, was screened in the White House and was released theatrically globally.  He followed the movie up with the critically acclaimed, award-winning energy-related films, The Big Fix and PUMP

In 2017, Tickell’s long-awaited book Kiss the Ground: How the Food You Eat Can Reverse Climate Change, Heal Your Body and Ultimately Save the World was published. It quickly became an Amazon Bestseller in four categories. Kiss the Ground details Tickell’s decade-long journey around the world to learn how the effects of climate change can be reversed through regenerating the worlds soils. The companion documentary to the book (also entitled Kiss the Ground) is being executive produced by Leonardo DiCaprio!

    Speaker Josh Tickell Keynote Topics:

    • Reversing Climate Change

In his best-selling book, Kiss the Ground – How The Food You Eat Can Reverse Climate Change, Heal Your Body and Save the World, Tickell presents critical new scientific research that shows how soils can sequester and store over 2,500 Gigatons of Carbon Dioxide, thereby re-balancing the climate of Planet Earth. Known as “biosequestration,” the process he outlines, will have profound implications for governments, large businesses and communities worldwide.

    • Empowering Millennials

In 2008, Tickell’s movie FUEL won the Sundance Audience Award and was shown in the White House. As a result, he traveled to and spoke at 150 universities worldwide. This spurred Tickell’s interest in what has today become known as the “Millennial” generation. With half of the world’s population now under the age of 35 years, Tickell has spent much of the last decade interviewing and researching this “youth tsunami,” as he calls it. His research is cataloged in his new book, The Revolution Generation – How Millennials Can Save America and The World, which will be released on October 2, 2018. He speaks on how to empower today’s youth to effectively lead in business and civic life.

    • Building Sustainable Businesses

For over two decades, Tickell has been a thought leader and consultant in the sustainable business world. He has worked intimately with the founders of some of today’s cutting edge “triple bottom line” companies including John Mackey, founder of Whole Foods (who wrote the forward to Tickell’s book, Kiss the Ground), and John Paul DeJoria, founder of Paul Mitchell Hair and Patron, (whose biographical film, GOOD FORTUNE, Tickell co-directed). The list of companies for whom Tickell has consulted on sustainability initiatives includes Audi, GM’s Electric Vehicle Division, Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, Walmart and many food and agricultural companies. Tickell speaks on the cutting edge of developing businesses that will survive and thrive into the next century.
