Nicolas Hamilton was born with Cerebral Palsy. Told that he’d never walk on his own, he was determined to prove the doctors wrong. He did just that by enduring gruelling training to reach his goal of walking without assistance by 17 years of age. His career goal of becoming a race car driver was another challenge to overcome. After much practice and a modified car, he’s become a well-respected professional driver.
His debut at the Renault Clio Cup attracted media attention, despite his last place finish in 2011. By 2013, he’d joined the European Touring Cup. In 2015, he became the first disabled driver to compete in the British Touring Championship. In 2016, Hamilton was selected as a part of Channel 4’s team as a Formula 1 presentation driver. By 2019, he became a full-time driver for Motorbase Performance. By 2020, Hamilton had become the fourth HARD team member in the Volkswagen CC.
Hamilton’s rise through the racing ranks is extraordinary, considering the physical challenges he’s overcome. By sharing his story, he motivates audiences to move forward with ambition and continue until the goal is achieved. By telling his own story of challenge and overcoming adversity, Hamilton inspires listeners to achieve.

We invited Nic Hamilton to speak at our virtual International Men’s Day celebration at Nomad Foods; an event run across 13 countries via a virtual platform for over 250 people. Nic spoke about his personal experience of having to fall in order to learn to grow, his experience about using mental strength to build physical capabilities and the power of self-belief. He was relatable on so many levels – answering the Q&A with heart and soul - and left everyone with some thoughts about how to challenge themselves in an authentic way, and to build a culture of no-judgement. I cannot recommend him enough.
