The Institute of Professional Development was delighted to welcome Nova Lorraine as a keynote speaker at our Women in Leadership Conference, held on 19th November in Manchester. Nova delivered an inspiring and thought-provoking talk, sharing her personal experiences, insights, and best practices for overcoming gender bias, promoting equity, and advancing women in leadership roles. Her contribution was both powerful and practical, resonating strongly with our audience of leaders and aspiring leaders alike. In addition to delivering an inspiring keynote, Nova played a pivotal role in our panel discussion on “Pathways for Greater Representation of Women from Minority-Ethnic Backgrounds in Senior Leadership Roles.” She brought fresh perspectives and valuable reflections to a conversation that is both critical and timely—particularly in the context of the UK Government’s Parker Review of Race and Ethnicity on Company Boards. The 2023 update of the review highlighted encouraging progress, with 178 ethnic minority directors in the FTSE100 (47% of whom are women) and 188 in the FTSE250 (48% women). While these numbers remain modest, Nova underscored the power of voluntary targets and collective commitment in driving meaningful, sustainable change. Through her talk, she offered practical guidance on how both women and organisations can take intentional steps toward greater inclusion and leadership equity. Drawing from her book, UNLEASH YOUR SUPERNOVA, she spoke passionately about the importance of reigniting your inner power, the life-saving potential of knowing when to pivot, and the need to future-proof your mind, body, and business. Her contribution left the audience energised, empowered, and ready to take action. Nova’s passion, clarity, and authenticity left a lasting impression on our delegates. We are grateful for her contribution and highly recommend her as a speaker for any event focused on leadership, equity, and representation. She is a true powerhouse—charismatic, engaging, and inspiring.
