Though certainly needed, there was skepticism about how a group of commercial real estate professionals would embrace a message about mindfulness, wellness and self-care. In a high stress, competitive and fast paced industry like ours, time is a commodity that many of our employees are not willing to spare. We invited staf to attend a workplace wellness workshop on a voluntary basis. The turnout was larger than expected and within the first few minutes, the room was fully engaged. Courtney ’ s authenticity, humour and personal experiences instantly put the group at ease. Courtney had also spent time understanding our of ice culture, organizational design and the profile of our people so that she could deliver a presentation that felt tailored to us. While everyone can learn something from Courtney ’ s message, one of the most important takeaways for us was acknowledging the energy that we can carry into meetings with clients or colleagues. She provided the group with tools to reset the mind and body, minimizing the impact of external stressors when facing clients and colleagues. She also reminded us about the importance of being present and in the moment. We look forward to continuing our mindfulness journey and having Courtney back in soon.
