Francis Louise (Lu) Parker is a television journalist, Miss USA winner, and motivational speaker. She began her career as an English literature teacher and later landed a television job with WCSC in South Carolina. San Antonio’s KABB offered Parker a reporter and weekend anchor position. By 2000, the station promoted her to the main anchor. In 2005, she joined KTLA in Los Angeles as co-anchor with Frank Buckley. Parker has attained acting roles and appeared on E! and Larry King Live. In partnership with Maria Shriver, KTLA developed an inspirational web show featuring Parker, called The Path.
In 1994, she competed in the Miss USA pageant and later reached the top six finalists for the Miss Universe Pageant. As a motivational speaker, Parker travels the country to inspire audiences to overcome challenges with self-reflection and kindness. Sharing captivating stories from her own career, she encourages listeners to set goals, pursue dreams, and remain authentic. Her keynote is a transformational experience, giving attendees insight into her own life and journey to success.
Parker holds a bachelor’s degree in English literature and an Education Master of Arts degree. She leverages her platform to raise awareness about important topics, such as promoting animal rights.
