As a globally recognized change maker in the entertainment industry, Holly Robinson Peete has spent her adult life advocating for causes and providing support for those grappling with Autism and Parkinson diseases. She rose to prominence in television with her 1987 to1991 breakout role as Officer Judy Hoffs on 21 Jump Street and her stint from 2010 to 2016 playing the character, Christina, on the popular comedic series, Mike & Molly.
In 1995, she and her husband Rodney Peete formed the HollyRod Foundation to address concerns of those with Parkinson’s disease after her father battled the illness. By 2005, the foundation began providing support and resources to those with Autism after their son was diagnosed.
As an author, she has won a Quill Literacy Award in 2006 for her first book. Subsequently, Holly co-authored a children’s book with her daughter, called My Brother Charlie, which received an NAACP Image Award for offering a sibling’s perspective and transforming the way children view Autism. In 2012, My Brother Charlie also received the Dolly Gray Literature Award.
