Over the years keynote speaker Bruce King has developed several successful and, in some cases, award winning businesses which he has subsequently sold. He has worked with sales teams to achieve a frequently extraordinary increase in sales and with business owners to help them to create more successful and profitable enterprises.

Bruce King is a Fellow of The Institute of Sales & Marketing Management (FInstSMM) and a Fellow of the Institute of Directors (FIoD). He has more than thirty years experience working with organisations from SMEs to major international companies and speaking to audiences around the world on the subjects of sales, marketing and achieving greater results in any area of their business and personal lives.

Bruce King’s earliest career was in the field of complimentary medicine and personal growth. He qualified as a nutritional consultant and acupuncturist and studied and taught numerous powerful, personal growth and personal development techniques. He established one of the UK’s first multi-disciplinary complimentary medical centres, had his own radio programme on Radio London and wrote articles on alternative medicine and personal growth for numerous national magazines.

After several successful years in the complimentary medical field, Bruce decided he needed a new challenge. He sold the medical centre and, by what he describes as “a bizarre series of coincidences”, he entered a career in sales. He studied with some of the world’s top sales coaches and had an extremely successful and profitable career selling and managing sales teams for some of the UK’s top companies. Bruce puts a great deal of his success, and the success of those who worked with him, down to his earlier background in the personal development field.

In 1994 Bruce was asked by the BBC to write his first book. Titled ‘Psycho-Selling – Double Your Income From Sales In 8 Weeks’, the book became an international best seller and launched Bruce’s career as an international conference speaker. Since then he has written several other best selling books, produced several training videos and CDs and has been presenting keynote speeches and Master Classes around the world.

What is the message you hope people take away from your presentations?
That the delegates can achieve anything in their business and personal lives they could ever possibly want – and a great deal more.

Do you have a favorite experience from your speaking career?
Oh yes, all the time – the emails I regularly get from people who have achieved great things as a results of their involvement with me.

How do you prepare for speaking engagements?
In an ideal world, speak to the company directors and some of their employees, and find out precisely what the purpose of their conference is and what the employees would like to achieve and tailor my talk to help them achieve those aims.

What do you consider a successful speaking engagement?

  • What the client wanted me to achieve for them that they could not necessarily do themselves.
  • When the client achieves the aims of their conference.

Do you have any tips to increase sales during a time of economic crisis?
Crisis – what crisis? Don’t buy into the propaganda!  There are so many companies who are exploiting opportunities and creating new ones. Improving their skills, learning better or new ways to do things and exploiting new markets. This is a great time to become No. 1 whilst everyone else is sitting around complaining about the state of their economy.

How are your keynote presentations unique?
Because I present them.

How much does humor factor into your keynotes and other speaking engagements?
I’m not hired to make people laugh although they will certainly have the occasional chuckle. I’m hired to inspire, motivate and deliver content that can make a difference – long after my presentation.

How are referrals important for businesses?

Very. That’s where 98.26% of my business comes from.
